The "Lonely Grave" marks a tragedy in the family.
En Route to seeking fortune in the Golfields several members of the family became ill and died. Once this was a remote location, hence the "Lonely Grave" title. Housing development in recent years has swamped this area. The gravesite has been preserved in the "Ninnes Grave Reserve" near Bendigo, Victoria.
